When Robin Hood infiltrates the Fens Monastery dressed as a black-robed monk, he introduces himself to the Prior as Eustace. This is a reference to Eustace the Monk, a medieval outlaw who, according to legend, studied black magic before becoming a Benedictine monk. He later became a pirate and was eventually killed during the Battle of Sandwich.
