A bit of a do-nothing loser, after the 9/11 attacks, Justin's sister confides in him her worries about safety after seeing the destruction first hand. Due in part to this, he signs up for the Army despite the protestations of nearly the entire family. He comes back from Iraq changed. His drug use, habitual during his teenage years, turns into something darker and more self-destructive. Just when things were starting to look up, with a job, and a girlfriend, he gets orders that he's to go back to Iraq.
