Zeno Egervary was a Mesan citizen and Duan Binyan's security and tactical officer aboard the Jessyk Combine slaver Marianne. He panicked when the crew of the Manticoran cruiser HMS Hexapuma identified the ship as the same one they had seen in orbit around the planet Kornati, and demanded to board it. He fired the shots that destroyed Hexapuma's approaching pinnace, Hawk-Papa-One (piloted by Midshipwoman Ragnhild Pavletic and her crew), and was in turn killed in a rage by Binyan, who feared the Manticorans' retribution.
