Retten Kipp is a character in First King of Shannara. Along with Preia Starle, he was one of two Elven Trackers to travel with the company that went in search of the Black Elfstone. Kipp was a veteran Tracker that had served with the Home Guard for more than thirty years. Along the journey, he was captured by Gnomes. They attempted to use him as bait to draw the rest of the company into a rescue attempt that would certainly fail, but Tay Trefenwyd recognized this and saved him from being tortured by his Gnome captors by using his Druid powers to humanely end Retten's life.
