Mr. Higurashi was the late father of Kagome and Sōta and late husband of Mrs. Higurashi. He was unseen but mentioned in the anime and movies. In episode 48, "Return to Where We First Met," when Kagome realized that she was in love with Inuyasha, her mother told that her father proposed to her at the sacred tree, after a fight. It was revealed in the light novel Shōsetsu Inuyasha that he died in a car accident before Sōta was born, and they moved to Higurashi shrine. Kagome's grandfather was his father and he would have been father-in-law to Inuyasha.
