The President of the United States is the head of state and head of government of the United States. The President is also the leader of the executive branch and the commander-in-chief of the United States Armed Forces. The President is indirectly elected by the people to a four year term through the Electoral College. The 22nd Amendment, ratified in 1951, prevents any person elected to the Presidency from serving more than two full terms.
