Grey Turner's sign usually just referred to on the show as Turner's sign (although it was first described by British surgeon George Grey Turner) is a symptom that is specific to a handful of conditions including pancreatitis, bleeding from the pancreas, bleeding behind the peritoneum, blunt force trauma to the abdomen, bleeding ectopic pregnancy, coagulopathy or a ruptured aorta. In all cases, it is the result of bleeding into the peritoneum and manifests as a bluish-bruise that runs the entire length of the sides of the body from the bottom rib to the top of the hip.
