House spirits in Slavic folklore. They look like small old men between 1-3 feet tall. Each house is supposed to have its own Domovoi. They were protectors of the home and would sometimes help out with chores around the house. They were treated as a part of the family. However, if they were to become unhappy, they would cause chaos and perform pranks and tricks on the family. Domovoi means "one of the house". The Ovinnik and Chlevnik were also types of Domovoi, but they resided in other structures. Domovoy is also the name of a crater on the Uranian moon Ariel.
