Assistant Mavis Riley had just had the unsettling experience of Eunice Wheeler shoplifting a toy from the premises with the resultant police inquiry and abuse from husband Bob Wheeler and got flustered with the perfectly innocent transaction when it started to resemble the same previous pattern.
