Route 9 was a Pennsylvania rural highway at "the foothills of the Arklay Mountains". It was closed by the Raccoon Police Department in mid-July 1998 with a roadblock in response to the disappearance of three hikers earlier in the week. By now the number of killings had reached nine, with another three disappearances.
