Due to system constraints of the time, the light cycles, and by extension their jetwalls, traveled only in straight lines and made only 90°-angle turns during light cycle battles, though the vehicles themselves could move more freely off the Game Grid. In the TRON: Legacy era however, the jetwall was superseded by the Light Ribbon, a barricade rendered in the more fluid motion of the vehicles in the Tron system.
