The UCLA Bruins women's basketball program was established in 1974. The Current coach is Nikki Caldwell The team was a member of the AIAW until joining the NCAA in 1984. The UCLA Bruins women's basketball team won the AIAW championship in 1978, and a banner commomorating the championship hangs in Pauley Pavilion, the current home of the Bruins basketball teams.
