In the episode Guide to: Cheaters and Bullies, he revealed to Moze and Claire Sawyer that he used to be a bully as a kid, but eventually learned to be a kinder and friendlier person. In the episode, Guide to: The New Semester and Electives, it's shown that Ned thinks of Mr. Monroe as "a great teacher."
