Shortly after the Battle of Geonosis began, Dooku, leader of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, realized the battle was lost, and attempted to flee the planet; he was promptly pursued by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, who chased him to a hangar, where they confronted the ex–Jedi. However, Dooku easily defeated his pursuers, wounding Kenobi, and slicing off Skywalker's right arm in a duel, each, with both Jedi.
