The Jocko Point Fire Department serves an area between North Bay and West Nipissing. The land is part of the Nipissing First Nation and is leased out for homes and cottages. Faced with high insurance rates, the residents formed a fire department, which also protects portions of the Reserve. The area protected has no municipal organization, so funding is provided through the subscription fees and local fundraising.
