The Ascension Research lab is a laboratory located on the West Pier in Atlantis. This lab was the first sign that the Ancients may not have naturally reached Ascension, but did so through evolutionary intervention. Shortly after the Atlantis expedition arrived, it was accidentally discovered by Jinto when he activated a transporter. While trapped there, he also deactivated a Containment vessel, which released an energy creature being held for observation. (SGA: "Hide and Seek")
