"Up on the Roof" is a pop standard, originally recorded by The Drifters, and later covered by such artists as James Taylor (who performed it on Sesame Street). The song was performed by Clifford in episode 207 of Muppets Tonight, when Clifford is feeling down about the rest of the cast thinking Dennis Quaid does such a great job running things until the song is interrupted by Rizzo telling him that there is a problem with the transmitter.
