The 1974 Old Dominion 500 was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) event held at Martinsville Speedway on September 29, 1974. Earl Ross, a Canadian, became the first (and to this point only) foreigner to win a major NASCAR race, leading 79 of the 500 laps in route to a one-lap victory over Buddy Baker. Eventual season champ Richard Petty finished 29th after early engine woes. Stats
