Sarah Cushing was the middle of the three Cushing sisters. Her younger sister Mary was married to Jim Browner and they lived together in Liverpool. Sarah desired her brother-in-law and tried to seduce him, but when she understood that he was faithful to his wife, she began to turn Mary against him and later introduce her to Alec Fairbairn, who became her lover.
