The lockets were created by Max Hamilton and were given to the three original mermaids in the 50s. They are shaped like water droplets, with three waves on the back. Each of them has a different colored stone, which represent the girls' powers. The lockets were created with the intention of the mermaids accepting their transformation, and help them remember that they are a part of something special. All of them initially had a photo of the original mermaids inside. Cleo's locket's image eroded over time, because it stayed 50 years at the bottom of the Moon Pool. It can be presumed that Rikki's locket's image was removed before put on sale in the jewelry shop. Only Emma's locket has the photo inside.
