Each extracted piece of ore will reduce the durability of a cutter head by 1. 2. * Extraction efficiency. Basically there are 1280 ores in 1m3 of ore vein. Extractor without any cutter head will gather only 128 ores from block and waste 1152, because it has 10% efficiency, but you can upgrade cutter head and reduce the amount of wasted ore. 3. * Crafting cost. Cutter heads aren't free. Also they allow you to mine Crystal Deposit and Biomass .
