The Gauss Compact Burst lacks a full-auto mode, making it a poor choice for close-range combat, but its high accuracy and low recoil burst-fire mode make it a good choice for medium-range fighting, especially when flanking unaware enemies. It can be a useful tool for the light assault, who can climb to places where close-quarters fighting is unlikely and take potshots at distant opponents. This may not net many kills, but it does a good job of damaging targets and assisting your front-line allies.
