The Defenders (of Earth-616) is a number of Marvel Comics superhero groups which are usually presented as a "non-team" of individualistic "outsiders," each known for following their own agendas. Spider-Man, while not a official member, is often a ally of the Defenders. The team battles mystic and supernatural threats. They first appeared in Marvel Feature #1 (Dec, 1971)
