They originally worshipped Pythia but eventually left Gallifrey and became the Sisterhood of Karn after realising Pythia was non-canon. They first appeared in The Brain of Morbius and tried to rape the Fourth Doctor. Later they caused the Eighth Doctor to regenerate into War Granddad after he "died in a spaceship crash".
