The osmic projector was a technology used by the Sontarans, originally designed by the Kaveetch. It was available to the Sontarans from at least the 13th century, but had been in existence since their creation. Osmic projection was one of the explanations the Tenth Doctor gave on Arcopolis for ghosts. (PROSE: The Eyeless)
