He was best known for his efforts in the subsequent War of Gundabad, in which Eärorfilas led the newly resurrected armies of Arnor in defeating the last remnant orcs in Angmar and Gundabad. This campaign was accomplished alongside the Noldor elves of Rivendell and the Dwarves of the Blue Mountains, even going far enough to repair the relationships of the three races within Eriador's regions. On the war's offset, Eärorfilas managed to recover the ancient sword Ringil, used by the Second King of the High Noldor, Fingolfin, in the First Age. Restoring it's form from a millennium of decay, Eärorfilas renamed the blade Augaithil, as not to tarnish it's previous repuation. By the end of the war, Eärorfilas became a revered hero for his honorable deeds and great bravery in battle.
