One of the most heart-warming moments in Spin City is the episode 'Not in The Line of Fire'. Mike is shown to be running away from the Mayor when some shots are heard (they were actually balloons popping) and The Mayor (and the audience at this point) believes Mike ran away to save himself. We see the tape and it shows Mike running away. After Mike proves his loyalty to the Mayor by taking a hot dog 'with everything on it' meant for the Mayor, he goes back to his office to watch the tape. We see the rest of the tape and realise that Mike went to protect Nikki. Nikki sees this and is convinced of Mike's feelings towards her, and they get together.
