Prior to arriving on Angel Island, Vector was a resident of Downunda, though he was determined to leave that continent early in his youth. Hatching as an orphan, he joined up with other young Mobians without families, including Barby Koala and Duck "Bill" Platypus, future members of the Downunda Freedom Fighters. The group also had a father-figure who watched over them, though he and Vector apparently had tense relations. Eventually, he left his adoptive family behind, which left his "siblings" feeling bitter, and made his way to Angel Island via an air-lift along with several other Mobians.
