The Splitterring was a fragmentation sleeve for the M24 and M43 stick grenades, developed by the Wehrmacht Heer in 1942. The term is a German compound word combining Splitter (splinter or fragment) and Ring (ring). The device was simply a cylindrical steel sleeve, with either a smooth or serrated surface, which was slipped over the head of the stick grenade, clipped in place with three keepers around the base, and secured with a tension ring.
