Arandir was a Ñoldorin Elf and the Captain of the 250th Company in the Host of King Fingolfin during the Siege of Angband and the Dagor Bragollach, Battle of Sudden Flame. He was later one of the survivors of Dagor Bragollach, and led the remaining members of the 250th away from Angband. His friends included Lolindir and Eorlé, both members of the 250th Company.
