The International Olympic Committee (IOC) uses these three letter codes to refer to various nations. The IOC Country Code is not identical with the Nation name conventions that is the standard ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 code. Some IOC Country Codes represent athletes from multiple nations, or groups of athletes not formally representing any nation.
