Farmers are townfolk found in Terinyo, and sometimes in the High Mountain Village. Whilst all NPCs will be initially friendly in Terinyo, farmers may be hostile to non-lawful PCs in the HMV; killing even initially hostile farmers results in an alignment drop. Farmers can be interacted with in a couple of different ways. They will accept plant or herb seeds; giving them some is thought to very slightly move the PC's alignment towards lawful. The PC can also give a farmer a scythe, sickle or flail in exchange for a large ration.
