The track-jumper was a piece of technology created by the Professor Vard of an alternate universe. In 2373, Vard used his technology to jump into the primary universe. He was then forced to jump again after forces from the Temporal Warfare Division pursued him using their own tack-jumper. (DTI novel: Watching the Clock)
