Rajiv Mehta was a Starfleet officer in the mid-23rd century. In the late 2250s, Commander Mehta was the First officer aboard the Pyotr Velikiy-class USS Dauntless under the command of Captain Diego Reyes. In late-2258 or early-2259, the Dauntless engaged the Klingon Defense Force starship IKS Chech'Iw at Xarant. The conflict cost the lives of 18 crew members, including Commander Mehta.
