A Yomi Ko or Shadowborn is an entity or a child born between a dead man and a living woman. People who are born from this union are said to be half dead from birth and have extraordinarily strong sixth senses, making them feared - and sometimes highly respected - by people around them. Giving birth to one significantly decreases the lifespan of the mother. How the child is conceived is not yet known; however, it appears that it involves a strong emotional attachment to, and longing for, a deceased loved one.
