Thaurissan is a name used in the mythology of the Warcraft universe for the sorcerer thane of the Dark Iron Dwarves, as well as the former Dark Iron capital named after him. Sorcerer and Emperor of the Dark Iron Clan during the War of the Three Hammers, he retreated to the Dark Iron capital city of his name after their defeat and summoned the Firelord Ragnaros. The arrival of Ragnaros caused cataclysmic changes to the Redridge Mountains and formed Blackrock Spire, killing Emperor Thaurissan and destroying the Dark Iron city. Thaurissan is also the name of an Oceanic Realm.
