Ratfolk were an race extremely common in the world of Esria, and especially inhabited a variety of nations across the continent of Astria. Throughout their history they were typically stereotyped as being cunning, shrewd and good merchants, but also as loyal, selfless and humble friends. In reality, there were as many different personalities in ratfolk as there were in humans, though typically ratfolk rarely strayed far from the typical depiction. Ratfolk throughout history were often seen as the underdog, and in many countries they were persecuted and practically enslaved.
