Emperor Nootaikok is the leader of merrows who resides in the hidden undersea city of Adlivun with his wife, Empress Nerrivik, and their daughter, Princess Sedna. They govern the seas and sea creatures of Yamato. He also shares a past with the siren Vellamo whom he desired so much that he had an affair with her behind the Empress's back, which resulted in the hatching of a half-breed daughter whom he stole from Vellamo while leaving the siren to death.
