Thunder Bay is the northernmost city in Ontario. It has over 100 000 citizens, despite being unknown outside Canada. Press: for many years it was the home of the Finnish-language weekly Vapaa Sana (Free Word), until in 2012 it merged with Kanadan Sanomat (Canada News) of Toronto. It has 2 MPs, both NDP, elected in 2011. However one subsequently defected to the "Green" Party after rejecting the NDP policy on gun registration.
