Draco volans, or the common flying dragon, is a gliding lizard found in south-east Asia in the present day. When Ben Trent found Rex, he suggests that he is a flying dragon, but Abby Maitland discredits this theory, saying the child may have discovered a new species of reptile. This is proved to be the case when Rex was revealed to be a Coelurosauravus, having came through an Anomaly from the Permian Period. (Episode 1.1)
