The Derine family, descended from Klosto Derine and his family, is the most powerful banking family on Naboo. Much of the money of Theed and almost all the money in the adjoining provinces passes through the hands of its members. They are the most respected banking family on Naboo, though in times of war their members often become the first casualties. They were most recently badly decimated by the Trade Federation invasion; the Trade Federation resented them for being the first to see that Naboo was being short-changed by the trade agreement and shot many members on sight, but they made a remarkable recovery.
