The Avian Army is a Teen Grid military group that was founded by Terry Landar and Dos Bermudez in June 2008. After a mass recruitment in August that brought the group's population to a peak of 105, the group's progress slowed. In the following four months, the Avian Army fought only one short battle and acquired a small parcel in Coda, a donation from one of its high ranking officers. The parcel was intended to be a training base, but was much more often used as a private sandbox in which the army's third set of armor was built. By December, the group's population had dropped to 70, most of which had quit Second Life. In January 2009, the leaders pronounced the Avian Army dead, deciding that it was easier to restart from scratch than to try to revive the group.
