A more affordable version, the APEX20 was released the same year. The design of both models is inspired by a Universe series guitar which Shaffer used in the early days of Korn. The APEX200 has an RG series-style alder body with DiMarzio Blaze pickups and a Lo- Pro Edge 7 tremolo bridge. It sports a dark gray finish with natural headstock, black pickguard and red pickups.
