Rina was the daughter of Avatar Roku and his wife, Ta Min. As she grew up, she met and later married Jinzuk, who became a magistrate of Hira'a. They subsequently settled down in the village and had one daughter together, Ursa. As a master herbalist, Rina taught her daughter much about medicinal herbs and poisons.
