The SA160QM features an arched top mahogany body with a quilted maple top and a maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. Components include a non-locking synchronized tremolo bridge and Ibanez pickups in the HSS pickup configuration which is typical of this series. A similar model without the exotic top, the SA160, was produced until 2008. A similar model with a flamed maple top, the SA160FM has been offered since 2012. The SA160QM was available from August 2016.
