Coppélia is a sentimental comic ballet of the romantic genre that premiered in Paris. During the story a woman named Swanhilde pretends to be the lifelike doll created by Dr. Coppelius, as the man she loved Franz had fallen in love with the doll. She pretends that the doll has come to life and ultimately save Franz's life from the inventor.
