An black shadow curse is a spell used to conjure "an inky black shadow" that can be used to attack an opponent. The incantation is as yet unknown, as are the shadow's effect on a living target. The Curse can be repelled with flames, which will cause "the inkiness" to scream as it burns and gives "off a horrible stench." In January of 2011, an unknown wizard attempted unsuccessfully to use the Curse against Alexandra Quick.
