The Fanback was a cold-blooded amphibian from Naboo. Each fanback had a big, dorsal spine which gives it its name. Fanbacks lived mostly in water, although they went to surface to lay their large, tough-shelled eggs in the mud. After that, fanbacks usually remained in the surface for a time to protect the eggs from egg-eaters, including peko pekos. Fanbacks were carnivores and had no problems eating the egg-eaters themselves.
