The Phoenix Haven was a Shiba Bushi kata which trained to maneuver a naginata with exceptional speed. This kata was developed for the practice of naginata-kaiwa, but it was useful with other weapons. It set up a barrier of wood, metal and motion to distract an opponent and fend off his attacks.
