While the literal translation does mean "aquatic animal", because Shinsoo itself means "divine water", the term actually refers to any animal that lives and depends on Shinsoo. Examples of Shinheuh include species like Mangdol Whales, White Steel Eels and Striped Ground Pigs. The original Positions were created by Zahard and the 10 Great Warriors in their initial climb through the Tower in order to fight Shinheuh. This implies that, originally, nearly all of the challenges needed to climb the Tower involved fighting Shinheuh, rather than other people.
